There various experiences by the KUFSA students. We sample a few here:
1.Suriya Prathombut (Thailand)
Why did you come to Kosin University?
¡°Actually I came to Kosin University through some Korean missionaries in Thailand and I heard that Kosin University is a good University in Busan, and also my sponsor¡¯s church is part of the Kosin denomination. So I wanted to join Kosin University¡±.
What program do you like to attend in Kosin?
¡°I like to attend morning prayer¡±.
What is your life experience in Korea, good things and challenges?
¡°I would say that my life experience in Korea have been so amazing. I have met friends from different countries including Koreans, who are helping me to speak Korean language and they are very welcoming. The culture is nice. Even though they cannot speak our language they are trying to communicate with us. Also, Korea is a developed country, with many good Christians. The challenges for me are to go and share the blessings I have received here. It is compelling me to share God to people of Thailand and help them hear the good news of Christ Jesus and His love¡±.
2.Maurice Wambua, (Exchange student, Kenya)
My name is Maurice Wambua, an exchange student from Daystar University in Kenya. I never realized how much fun I would have or rather how much I would come to learn during my stay here in South Korea. I should say it has been an exciting experience for me so far¡¦although I should add that I also had some disappointments but that comes with the total package doesn¡¯t it?
South Korea has got a different exposure, different scenario in which one feels like trying out new things. The city of Busan is a wonder¡¦not only does it have beautiful infrastructure but also the people who live in it are very kind and lovely. I should say I felt home the minute I started interacting with them. They are always curious to know who you are, where you come from (and if you have a girlfriend!!). Being conservative, I had mixed feelings with the direct questions being thrown at me almost every time I met a Korean.
We then come to the food. Now, remember I talked about having some difficulties?? This was one of them. But not anymore¡¦.!!? South Korean have a craving for a delicacy called Kimchi, this is fermented cabbage that has been mixed with some spices. I should say my favorite meal is Sang ngip sal (roasted pork eaten together with vegetables and assorted spices and sauces). I will surely miss this when I go back home in the summer.
I can actually say that I don¡¯t regret coming to South Korea and I hope to seize this opportunity to the fullest in the coming few months that I am going to spend around here.
